“Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3–4
There’s an old hymn that says we are blessed to be a blessing. In these verses Paul said he had been comforted to be a comfort.
Paul wrote this letter after going through much trouble and affliction. This is a very personal letter in which he bares his pastoral heart. But, Paul wrote, God comforted him in his trials and tribulations; therefore, he was better able to comfort others in the distresses of their lives.
The stress and anxiety you feel during this pandemic are great. The fears and unknowns are many. But God will comfort you and keep you throughout, if you will rely on him.
Because God comforts you, how will you now seek to comfort others in distress?
