- “No Longer Slaves” – January 26, 2021 – Weekly Update
There is a beautiful song entitled “No Longer Slaves”:
You unravel me with a melody
You surround me with a song
Of deliverance from my enemies
Till all my fears are gone
I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
From my mother’s womb, You have chosen me
Your love has called my name
I’ve been born again into Your family
Your blood flows through my veins
You split the sea so I could walk right through it
You drowned my fears in perfect love
You rescued me so I could stand and sing
I am a child of God
In Exodus 14, the Israelites had just been freed from slavery in Egypt. God had delivered them from the Egyptians with great power. But then Pharaoh decided he wanted his slaves back. When the Israelites saw the approaching army, they were paralyzed with fear.
“And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom you have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace” (Exodus 14:13-14).
We who know Christ as Lord and Savior have also been freed from slavery – slavery to sin and Satan. Let us then live “no longer slaves”, but as children of the King!
I hope this brief word will encourage you this week as you live for King Jesus!
Remember our regular schedule of activities: prayer on Tuesdays and Saturdays, choir practice Tuesday night, and prayer meeting on Thursday evening.
Then, next Sunday, we look forward again to meeting for several hours to worship God and to be equipped in our faith. Sunday School is at 10 a.m.; don’t miss it, this is a wonderful time to be encouraged in the Word and to fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ.
In our morning worship service, as we engage with God’s Word, as God leads, we will be looking again at Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount as he taught the sanctity of marriage, and the importance of keeping our mind and body pure in Matthew 5:27-32.
Then, in our evening service, we will talk about how to apply those principles by installing God’s filter on our minds and thoughts – Philippians 4:8.
Until we meet again, let us pray for one another, follow the Spirit, and live our Christian testimony before a watching world!
In times like these…
God loves you!
Our world has been rocked by the coronavirus pandemic. As a result of the restrictions and concerns about spreading this sickness, our church is seeking to learn new ways to serve you.
Please know that in this time of uncertainty, fear, and even despair, God is still in control. He has not been surprised by the coronavirus. God loves you. He understands your anxiety and pain. God is faithful. He will walk with you through this time of difficulty if you will seek Him.
